Collins is dead wrong and his 'discovery' of a 500 year hiatus clearly disqualifies that site from contention. No where in the Bible do we read that the land of Sodom and Gomorrah was restored and usable again.
Collins likes to cherry pick the details from the passages he reads in Genesis. Nowhere in the Sodom passages does it mention that Lot crossed the Jordan River. If he wants to be literal, then he needs to remain consistent.
