Terah was an idol worshipper, so no doubt he did not pass anything he may have learned from Shem if he even knew hem at all. If he had known and spent time with Shem, he would not have been an idol worshipper. Its more likely that Abraham himself may have had some contact with Shem or someone close to him, because he did know the true God although not by name.
