Abraham is the only family in the Bible that I can think of who had been given their names by GOD. Abram to Abraham, As for Sarai her name will be Sarah. Genesis 17:19 Then God said, "Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son,"and you will call him Isaac.

You speak correctly in saying Abraham was given a name by God. However, Jacob, too, was given a name by God in Genesis 35:10 when the Lord changed his name from Jacob to Israel. His twelve sons became the twelve tribes of Israel - and the nation today carries his name.
